About Us
Optical Support was established by Chris Edwards in 1996, initially to provide a first class lens repair service to the broadcast and film industries and later diversifying, with the help of the UK’s two most prominent Steadicam operators, Peter Cavaciuti and Peter Robertson, to create the first hire facility specialising solely in Steadicam equipment and accessories. The Petes’ invaluable knowledge and experience has helped us to ensure that our Steadicam hire kits all meet the exacting standards that our clients expect and are also genuinely operator friendly.
Since 1996, Optical Support has thrived and expanded in all directions, from increasing our Steadicam hire stock and the development of the rickshaw tracking dolly, to the growth of our lens service department, with Russell Croft joining us after 15 years experience working with lenses and Steadicam and Anthony Scott with 40 years experience with Optics.
For many years we have been dealers for GPI Pro systems and Preston Focus systems, and we’ve recently become dealers for the whole Steadicam range from the Merlin to Ultra 2.
